East Cheshire Hospice Starlight Walk

On Friday night I had the honour of photographing East Cheshire Hospice's Sponsored Starlight Walk. It was absolutely throwing it down and blowing a gale. I was drenched and dripping about the place, lugging my gear around, I'd been up for another shoot that morning since 5am, it had all the signs of a hard nights work, but I have to admit I really enjoyed myself. Despite the biblical weather the atmosphere was amazing, a really fun festival vibe. The band was great and the sound system was awesome you could hear the music all the way around the walk. Oh, and the walk! I've been to a festival at Capesthorne Hall before and then I thought it was beautiful then, but it really is a gorgeous place, magical even, the woodlands were carpeted with blue bells and wild flowers, pretty pink blossom trees peppered the forest canopy and delicate pond lilies floated on the dark rippling waters of the ponds and rivers surrounding the hall. I'd fell in love with the place but even more than that I'd fallen in love with the people, there was such a feeling of solidarity, the brave warm smiles of people mourning loved ones and people currently battling with life threatening illness themselves. There was a tear in my eye more than once as the night went on. I really was in awe of everyone involved with the event. The organisers did a brilliant job creating the perfect atmosphere that even the weather couldn't touch.
